I settled in Liberty, Maine in 2005, and founded Prescott Hill Pottery. I make soda-fired pots for people who appreciate handmade and useful artwork… pieces that enhance the beauty and humanity of everyday life. In 2019 I added “Prescott Hill Studios” to my gallery and studio space. I began to explore making silver and gemstone jewelry, with the goal of enriching our lives through a bit of wearable beauty and originality.

I like to think outside the box, but I’m rooted in what I consider a classical tradition, having great respect for the artists that our civilization has produced all through the ages. I admire the early Korean potters, the Japanese mingei tradition, the early Mesopotamian culture, and skipping right along through Rembrandt, the Impressionists, the Cubists, to the Art Deco, Bauhaus, and Abstract Expressionist movements. I find the power of suggestive imagery to be deeply engaging, and I love the imaginings that symbols evoke.

I think of my jewelry as little paintings in silver, stone, color and light, and my pots as little sculptures to handle and to hold nourishment.
